A person was taken to a major trauma centre on Monday morning (7 September) after an incident on the Victoria line track at Walthamstow Central. Services were suspended and there were severe delays across the line.
Emergency services, including several ambulances, a helicopter and police vehicles, were called to the station at around 9.15am.
The Waltham Forest Echo understands the person has life-changing but not life-threatening injuries. Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.15am today to reports of a person on the tracks at Walthamstow Central Station.
"We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a paramedic in a fast response car and paramedics from our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. We treated a person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority."
A police statement said officers were called to Walthamstow Central at 9.15am following reports of a casualty on the tracks. It added: "Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to hospital with injuries that are thought to be life-changing but not life-threatening. The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
Travel disruption
There was no service between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central during the morning. Transport for London (TfL) later reopened the track, but severe delays continued across the rest of the Victoria line.
TfL said tickets were being accepted on buses and on the Weaver and Suffragette lines, which were running as normal at Walthamstow Central and Walthamstow Queens Road.
